I enjoy building outfits that nod to a particular decade or to people who have shaped me. Paired with the Kangol, these wide-leg pants gave off every bit of that 70s feeling. Kowtow is a wonderful New Zealand label, dedicated to fair trade certified organic cotton, Global Organic Textile Standard approved dyes, thoughtful production with fair working conditions, responsibly sourced trims and sustainable packaging. Trove is still new to me - the brand works directly with artisans around the world, generating jobs and honoring culture. And honestly, I appreciate that its founder not only collaborates with melanin communities but also features WOC in the brand's imagery and marketing. That kind of representation matters - it ensures WOC are seen as far more than laborers.
